The phrase ‘sub-tropical paradise’ might seem to be stretching the point, but great views, luscious vegetation and a year-round mild climate must count for something. La Gomera is only a 45 minute ferry ride, but a million miles, from the mass tourism of Southern Tenerife. An island where things are slower, less pressured. An island where you can really relax.
Our new apartments are in the quiet village of La Calera, one of the three main villages of the spectacular Valle Gran Rey. There’s a modest selection of shops and restaurants in the winding streets of La Calera, while a pleasant 15 – 20 min stroll through the banana plants brings you to the seafront and the villages of Vueltas and La Playa. There are small beaches with black, volcanic sand, but most people come for the excellent walking, which is the best way to appreciate the stunning array of vegetation.

Both spacious one-bedroom apartments are fully equipped to a high standard and have solar panels for plenty of hot water. They are in a small, non-tourist development. 4E has a double bed, while 4F has twin beds and a sofa bed in the living area. Both have good-sized balconies with views down the valley to the sea. Cost per apartment is a very reasonable £210/week plus €25 final cleaning charge (payable locally).
